A Whole Bunch Of Nothing

By Leslie Fieger It is seemingly a common phenomenon that somehow spontaneously occurs to almost every teenager. It is the nothing thing. You can ask almost any question and the answer is nothing. What are you doing? Nothing. What will you be doing tomorrow? Nothing. It is followed closely by the nowhere thing. Where were you? Nowhere. Where are you going? Nowhere. And finally, the clincherI dunno. What do you want for dinner? I dunno. When will you be home? I dunno. What is the name of the movie you are going to see? I dunno. It seems like these teens are going and coming from nowhere and doing and planning on doing nothing. Why? I dunno. Shrug. Who knows? Well, fortunately, it is just a phase and soon enough, not only will they be quite willing to say where they have been, what they have been doing and for what reason; they will also be willing to tell you where you should go, how to get there and why. Now, it may seem like this nothing phase disappears from our lives as our hormones settle down a little and our neurons get back to work, but this nothing thing sticks around. It is insidious. It sits there just below the surface waiting for the right moment to take over again. Adultsfully-grown, and supposedly fully functional, human beings will suddenly revert back to the nothing, nowhere, dunno phase when asked any question to which they do not yet have a prepared rationalization or excuse. This is critical! It is not that they actually do not have or know the real answer; it is because they do not yet have a valid sounding excuse or rationalization prepared and rehearsed. Parents know that their teens are practicing avoidance when they use these one-word dismissals. Somehow, we forget to apply the same wisdom to adult human beings, including ourselves. Whenever we are called, by inclination or by circumstance, to do a little self-evaluation, the answers we get back to the questions we ask ourselves are often a whole lot of nothing, nowhere and I dunno. So ask yourself thiswhy arent you living the life of your dreams? What comes back? Whats the answer you supply to you? Is it some well-prepared and rehearsed rationalization or excuse? Or, is it some variation of nothing, nowhere, I dunno. The real answer??? I suppose it is ok to not answer others when they ask questions that you do not wish to supply the real answers to; but, you must be firm and resolute with yourself. Do not allow your mind to get away with giving you avoidance responses when you are after answers. Do you truly desire to have a prosperous and abundant life?? If the answer is YES, then you must get specific. Stop allowing yourself to be satisfied with a whole bunch of nothing. What are you doing? Why? Where are you going? Why? When will you get there? How? Leslie Fieger. All rights reserved worldwide. Leslie is the author of The DELFIN Knowledge System Trilogy: The Initiation, The Journey and The Quest plus many more success publications. Did I Really Eat That?: How to Quickly Recover From A Binge

By Jackie Stanley At one time or another, we have all awakened to the sight of empty soda bottles, pizza boxes, candy bar wrappers, or ice cream containers strewn about our bedroom, den or kitchen and asked ourselves: Did I really eat all that? Rather than accepting binges as temporary relapses, we tend to react by beating ourselves up for falling off the wagon and failing to follow through our healthy eating plan. Here are a few concrete actions you can take after a binge to successfully coach yourself from relapse to recovery in as little time as possible: Go Ahead and Vent! Give yourself 10 minutes to vent about your setback. Set a timer to make certain you dont get carried away, and then use this time to whine about why you cant eat whatever you want. Complain about how much you hate to exercise. Blame your mother and rave on about why it is not your fault that you like ice cream. Give voice to everything you are feeling and thinking expressing anything that might be contaminating your brain. But when the 10 minutes are up and the timer goes off, stop venting and move on. Focus on Facts, Not Faults Writing a clear and objective description of what you ate during a binge can help you put an end to the blame game. Try to focus only on what you ate and not how you felt about what you ate. Focusing too intently on our feelings can sometimes interfere with out ability to move forward, because they can distort our objectivity. A written description can serve as a window through which we can assess our behavior without making judgments about ourselves. When we can begin to make distinctions between who we are and what and how much we eat, binges will lose their power to derail our weight loss and healthy living goals. Reframe Your Binge Reframing or putting a positive spin on your overeating incident doesnt mean that you dont accept responsibility for your actions. It means that you look at the experience with a positive, constructive attitude. For instance, rather than telling yourself that you have lost your way, reframe the incident by telling yourself that you merely took a detour. Remind yourself that no matter how much you ate, your binge did not cause the world to stop spinning. Life will go on, and so will your journey toward weight loss and healthy living. Jacqueline D. Free Polyphonic Ringtones

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Thomas_Morva]Thomas Morva What would the world be without cell phones? They make doing business and being connected so much easier than in the past. This came to be the understanding of the many cell phone service-providing companies. This very fact led to the development of custom ringtones. The ringtones that we have on our cell phones are the children of the latest techniques in scientific discovery. Depending upon the phone we use and the various types of service we have, there are different types of ringtones available. The two most common are the monophonic and the polyphonic ringtones. The monophonic ringtones are usually not that attractive and do not provide the user with actual feeling of listening to music. They are mostly used for the standard ringtones that are set by default on each ones cell phones. But if you want to get a good feeling for your favorite song as a ringtone, then what you need is a polyphonic ringtone. Moreover, today many of the cell phone providers offer free polyphonic ringtones as a promotional tool. Polyphonic simply means the ability of the phone to produce more than one music note at a time. This allows you to get a better output of your favorite song that you download as a free polyphonic ringtone. Moreover, since it is free, it has become the hot favorite ringtone format for college and high school aged students, as well as for the music lover. They love to download the various free polyphonic ringtones and then later show them off to their peers. So, if you want to have one of those free polyphonic ringtones, then just log onto the net or contact your cell phone service provider today. Glycemic Index: Should GI Guide Your Food Choices?

By Gabe Mirkin, M.D. Many popular diet books recommend avoiding foods with a high Glycemic Index. When you eat a food, your blood sugar level rises. The food that raises blood sugar the highest is pure table sugar. The Glycemic Index (GI) is a ratio of how high a food raises blood sugar in comparison to table sugar. Foods whose carbohydrates break down slowly release glucose into the bloodstream slowly, so blood sugar levels do not rise high and therefore these foods have low GI scores. Those that break down quickly cause a high rise in blood sugar and have a high GI. Most beans, whole grains and non-starchy vegetables have low GI; while sugars, refined grains, fruits and root vegetables have a high GI. A carrot has almost the same GI as sugar, but common sense tells you that a carrot is more healthful than table sugar. Foods that are mostly water or air will not cause a steep rise in your blood sugar even if their GI is high. That’s why a new measure, called Glycemic Load (GL), is more useful. This tells you how much sugar is in a portion of food as well as how high it raises blood sugar levels. GL is calculated by multiplying the grams of carbohydrate in a serving of food by that food’s glycemic index. Carrots dropped from high GI of 131 to a GL of 10. Potatoes fall from a GI of 121 to a GL of 45. Air-popped popcorn, with a GI of 79, has a GL of 4. GI and GL indexes are tools for research that will drive you crazy if you try to apply them to your daily selection of foods. Instead, use your own common sense and eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and other seeds. If you are diabetic, you can eat root vegetables and fruits with other foods to slow the rise in blood sugar they may cause. For more on GL and sensible nutrition, read “Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating” (Simon & Schuster, June 2001), by Harvard School of Public Health professor and researcher Walter Willett, M.D — highly recommended. The Secret to Reaching Your Ideal Weight

By Sonia Devine There are many books and internet articles written about weight control. However, if you already know the stuff you should be doing, you might want to skip past the next section of this article. For those of you who are starting at the beginning, heres some useful information: Energy is measured in units called calories or kilojoules. If you want to lose weight, then the total calories that your body absorbs through eating and drinking must be less than the calories that your body expends throughout the day. And of course, if you wish to gain weight, the opposite is true. You can also help your weight control along by participating in regular daily exercise, because this helps your body burn more calories. It does this not only during the exercise session, but also for hours later, by raising your body’s metabolic rate. When you exercise, you produce feel good chemicals in the brain which are called endorphins, and these often help to stop you from reaching for those high calorie snacks such as cakes, donuts and chocolate. Also, exercise changes the fat and muscle ratio in your body. Muscle burns more calories than fat, so make sure you enlist all the help you can get by exercising! So if we have all this information at our fingertips, then why do so many people have such difficulty reaching their ideal weight? Well, I must tell you that a lot of it has to do with your subconscious belief systems. Do you know all the basics, but still find yourself unable to stick to a healthy eating and exercise regimen? You’re definitely not alone. At this point, I would like to say that if you want to lose weight, then I strongly suggest that you reframe the notion of losing weight. So instead of saying you want to lose weight, I would like you to think of your goal in terms of gaining control of your weight, or, as the title of my article suggests, reaching your ideal weight. The reason for this, is because your subconscious mind can be a fickle beastand when you lose something, what do you automatically (and subconsciously want to do? You want to find it again! So its really important to focus your mind towards what you want, instead of what you want to lose, and this is because your subconscious mind works best with positive language. And speaking of which, how is YOUR body image? Do you continuously criticize yourself , or berate yourself for indulging in that triple choc milkshake? If so, STOP right now. If you want to reach and maintain your desired weight goals then you need to make permanent but manageable lifestyle changes, while at the same time allowing yourself the odd indulgence…without feeling guilty! So, be realistic and work at a steady pace towards reaching and maintaining a body shape that is achievable for you. If youve always had a pear shaped body, then you will not be able to slim down to a straight-up-and down shape, even if you starve yourself! Dont fall into the trap of unhealthy eating habits; depriving your body of essential nutrients is every bit as damaging as overeating. Begin by working WITH your natural body shape, not against it. Send your subconscious mind the message that you love and respect your body. One of the ways you can help yourself along is by using daily affirmations. Start today; write down any negative beliefs you have about your body, and then replace these negative statements with positive ones. Remember: You can achieve anything if you enlist the help of your subconscious *** You are licensed to publish this article free of charge, on condition that the author’s name is included, and the link to her website remains visible and clickable to human readers. *** Sonia Devine is a qualified professional hypnotherapist and success coach with a caring and committed approach to healing, who lives in Melbourne, Australia. Christmas carp–The European Feast

By A.J. Klott Ahh…. The Christmas Carp…Yummmm…. It’s almost Christmas and like most of you out there I can’t wait for that most cherished of holiday traditions-the carving of the Christmas carp. Yes, nothing makes the mouth water and gets me into the holiday mood until I see my wife come walking through that door with our fresh-live “holiday” carp. Whether hand picked from the Three Mile island settling ponds, or homegrown from the depths of the “pristine” waters of Lake Michigan, it is always great to bring the little droopy lipped fellar home, toss him in the bathtub, and thump him on the head on Christmas morning to the squealing delights of the neighborhood kids. Then we deep fry him and chase him down with some delicious squawfish soup. I know, I know, I am making you salivate just at the thought of all these tempting delights-but don’t worry- soon enough you will be passing the carp platter around the table, praising Aunt Lou that this years carp -is the best ever- and asking her how she got that green glow to emit from it’s carcass. Festivally brilliant!!….. Here, in the U.S., we obviously take a different view of the much maligned carp–but in many cultures the above scenario will actually take place. Well, except for the glowing part. In Europe, Asia and other parts of the world the carp is still a viable and very marketable fish. The same fish I have seen drop kicked, eschewed, and tossed aside like an old shoe, actually makes it’s way to many a Christmas feast in other cultures. I just read a story today, about how the Czech Republic is worried that the carp market is being driven downward because of pressure from other fish, like salmon, as well as competition from poultry producers. If you are an American, you are probably sitting there with your nose all crinkled up or have that horrified-I just saw Frankenstein- facial expression right now, and are more than ever convinced that Euros are one fish short of a full stringer. Or, you might be thinking about boxing up some nice freshly caught carpsuckers from your favorite trout stream, and sending them “Fed-Ex” to Ivan Howsaboutafish in Prague. I am telling you-they would be welcome. In Europe, they look at the carp and exclaim things like: “Look at that fish, it is magnificent.” or “The quality of the Czech carp cannot be compared to farm salmon.” or “Check out the lips on that baby.”—OK- I made the last one up– but as you can see they REALLY like carp. So, in the Christmas spirit of giving, let’s all get out there today and catch ourselves a “mess” of carp and get them sent to Europe, so they can have a joyous and carp filled feast. Maybe if we’re lucky, they will send us a bunch of Lutefisk in return!! Now that’s foreign relations…. A.J. Klott writes on fishing and other humorous happenings in todays world. You can also find him peddling “fly tacks” on his website at: http://www.twoguyswithflys.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=A.J._Klott http://EzineArticles.com/?Christmas-carp–The-European-Feast&id=118067 gas card for people with bad credit secured loans debt consolidation find the website for obtaining a free credit report from the 3 top agencies home loans for bad credit

Make a Peg Art Teapot Stand

By S. Roberts This is an ideal Christmas pressie for Granny or any great tea lover. This peg teapot stand is practical, beautiful and so easy to make. Its a work of Art! All you need to make a teapot stand is pegs and No Nails Glue. You can varnish your finished teapot stand but you would need to use a marine varnish because normal varnish will spoil if on contact with water, with water being an essential ingredient of the tea making process. An accident is very probable. You will need approximately 23 wooden spring pegs. You may need a couple more or less because the peg sizes may vary. First dismantle all the pegs. Remove and discard the metal spring, you just need the two pieces of wood. You will notice on the shaped side of the peg that one end tapers and becomes slim. This is the area to apply the No Nails Glue from the tip to the indentation of where the spring once was. Glue the peg halves together in groups of four so that all the shaped surfaces face the same way. Allow these clusters to dry overnight. Trying to make the teapot stand in one go makes it fiddly and frustrating because you apply pressure to make the pegs stick, but the other pegs slide out of position. More haste, less speed! The following day join the clusters of four peg halves together to form clusters of eight. The following day join the clusters of eight to form clusters of sixteen and so on until the peg halves form a star like circle, with a hole in the centre. You may need to add additional peg halves to achieve this. Allow the glue to dry completely before you continue. Use sandpaper to stand the two flat surfaces to the teapot stand to smooth, clean and remove any excess glue. Now you can apply a couple of coats of marine varnish if you choose to. Read the varnish tin for directions of how to use the varnish. An interesting artistic looking teapot stand that would give any teapot that wow factor. S.
